Common questions
Can it actually read number plates?
Yes. Stills are 12MP, so as long as you mount it where the plate is square on and lit, the model reads the characters. Angle and glare matter more than resolution does, so the mounting position is the job. This suits a driveway, a yard or a car park bay rather than a dual carriageway.
Number plates are personal data. Where do they go?
A plate is personal data under UK GDPR, so this deserves a straight answer. The camera serves frames on your own network and never routes them through our servers. Only what your agent explicitly sends for analysis leaves, under your own provider account, and with a local model nothing leaves at all. Your lawful basis and your signage are still your responsibility, exactly as they would be with any other camera.
How fast can a car be going?
Entrance speeds, driveways, yards and car parks are fine at 720p and 60fps. A car at road speed is not: the plate will smear. We build higher frame rate units to order, so if you need to catch something moving quickly, tell us what and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.
